What’s this?

My name is Richard Stone and this is my blog.

I’m a semi-retired journalist with deep ties to Central Texas. I’ve  written under the The Ragged Edge name for 30-some years. Most recently, my column has been published in the Hill Country News but, in the past, it was also published in the Taylor Press, the Belton Journal, the cropped-corinth.selfie-1.jpgMarble Falls Highlander, the Taylor Daily Press, the Cameron Herald and the Daily Tribune in Marble Falls. It’s also had guest slots in dozens of other newspapers across the state including the Austin American-Statesman, the Temple Daily Telegram and the Hays Free Press.

During its print tenure, this column won a handful of moderately covetous awards for excellence in commentary, including from the National Newspaper Association, the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors Association, the Texas Press Association, the South Texas Press Association, the Gulf Coast Press Association and the North & East Texas Press Association.

And, yeah … that’s me in Corinth, with the Temple of Zeus in the background. A few steps away from that site, you can see where Pegasus first set hoof on Earth in one direction,  and where Paul was tried for sedition in the other.

The world is a weird and wonderful place.

  1. Sign me up! Actually, I have always envied the way you take everyday events and actually give them meaning. Hmmm.
